Our Origin

Meet Lauren Loya MD

Medical Director Lauren D. Loya, M.D. is originally from Greensburg, PA and is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and Northwestern University Medical School. She completed her Family Medicine Residency training at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

She spent 10 years practicing Family Medicine, primarily as family medicine residency faculty. She served as the Associate Director of the family medicine program at St. Elizabeth hospital in Chicago, then as a faculty member at UPMC Shadyside Family Medicine Residency Program.

She left UPMC in 2008 to start her own integrative and holistic medical practice, The Hormone Center. The mission of the practice is to combine traditional medicine with a more holistic method of treatment that strives to uncover the root cause of illness rather than just managing symptoms.

She is a Board Certified Family Physician and holds an additional board certification through the American Board of Integrative and Holistic Medicine (ABIHM).

In 2018 Proviva sprung from the need for greater access for her own patients.

Medical Director, Proviva

Dr. Loya's Medical Practice

The Hormone Center treats various conditions such as Thyroid Disfunction, Menopause, Adrenal Fatigue, PCOS, Andropause, Fibromyalgia and CFS. Many of the unique formulas in the Proviva line stem from this patient base.

A Snapshot of Lauren's Medical Beliefs

  • Pharmaceutical and insurance companies have too much influence on how doctors practice medicine.
  • Doctors don’t spend enough time with patients because they are under tremendous pressure to achieve certain numerical outcomes in terms of cholesterol, blood sugar, blood pressure, etc. This reality leaves little time to consider or address the potential sources of the patient’s disorder.
  • Due to western medical school training, most physicians learn to treat illnesses after they occur; or to detect them early, not to truly prevent them.
  • The foods we are eating are making us sick.

SO WHY PROVIVA?

My journey into integrative medicine has been full of discovery into different, more all-encompassing ways to treat illness.  I believe that the body, from an evolutionary stand point, is built to heal itself.  We have an immune system after all.  We know that it’s much easier to keep you healthy than to fix you after you’re sick.

Although Proviva is just one part of the healthcare puzzle; it is an essential part.  We launched Proviva because of the myriad of less than quality products on the market. I know that many consumers unknowingly waste their money on food grade versus pharmaceutical grade supplements.  I wanted products that I could trust with my patients and with my family.

Before 2022, Proviva was only offering its products through practitioners and medical practices. But we’ve widened our scope– in order to help more people we need to get the medical knowledge of Dr. Loya out to the world.

We’re building a community around evidence based health approaches

And we want you to be a part of it.

You’ll find Dr. Loya is the focal point of our social media, we want to get as much integrative medical knowledge to the internet as possible. It’s the best way to connect the people who are searching for answers to the right inquiries. And ultimately empower them to find the help they need.

Now we’re bringing Proviva to the rest of the world

A Variety of Quizzes designed with Dr. Loya serve as a guide to visitors.

14 Quizzes exist, from whole product line quizzes to 12 category specific quizzes.

They can be found on the Personalized Results page and elsewhere throughout the site.

75 Unique Formulas Cover 25 Categories of Health.

Plus our best consumer option, ProPacks, which has 61 of those formulas available.

ProPacks change the game for the consumer.

Proviva customizes suggestions through Dr. Loya’s quizzes to fit the daily lifestlye needs of anyone.

Proviva Products Are..

Proviva Products are Pharmaceutical Grade

%

of supplements on the market are food grade

What is Pharmaceutical Grade?

All Proviva products are of pharmaceutical grade quality. To be Pharmaceutical Grade versus “food grade” products must achieve 99% purity from natural sources. Less than 3% of supplements are pharmaceutical grade.

Supplements are not currently regulated by the FDA. However, pharmaceutical grade manufacturers voluntarily submit their processes to the FDA for stringent review. Ingredients and processes are sourced “from the ground” up to “ingestion”. Pharmaceutical grade supplements are only made in FDA registered facilities that follow Certified Good Manufacturing Practices.

In fact, new for 2021 the facility where we manufacture our products also manufactures generic prescription products under the same roof. Using the same manufacturing processes for the nutraceuticals as the pharmaceuticals.

To see real therapeutic benefits, the bloodstream must absorb nutrients. Absorption is greatly affected by the quality of supplements. Food grade supplements can contain questionable fillers and binders. Often food grade supplements found in drug and health food stores do not contain vitamins that are truly natural. Additionally the manufacturing processes cannot be verified to be of the highest quality. Many people can actually feel the difference between pharmaceutical grade supplements and those bought at chain stores. Bloodwork and biological marker testing tell the full story as well. Pharmaceutical grade products demonstrate the consistency and results that a physician looks for in patients.

How can one know if their product is pharmaceutical grade versus food grade? Discerning the difference can be difficult simply by looking at the bottle. One way to distinguish is by cost. Pharmaceutical grade supplements generally cost more due to the higher quality ingredients and more stringent manufacturing processes. Additionally, consider the source from which you’re buying. A trusted medical professional is a good place to start.

Although pharmaceutical grade supplements may cost a little more, in the long run the difference may be minimal due to having to potentially having to take a lower “dosage” due to increased purity. Bottom line, you may not need as many capsules of pharmaceutical grade supplements versus food grade to achieve the desired benefits.

That’s the Proviva difference!
